What is this tour about?

You have probably heard about the war of 1864. But on this tour, you can experience the story in a completely new way.

Travel back in time and follow the soldier Eskild, who, together with his company, is ordered into the trenches on April 17, 1864. It is an order none of the soldiers in the company wants to obey. Bombs have rained down on the trenches all night, and there is little left of the earthworks that were meant to protect the Danes. Yet from the government in Copenhagen comes the message that the trenches must be defended.

So, with slow and heavy steps, Eskild and his comrades move towards the trenches that are grimly known as “the slaughterbench”.
